I've been hooked on programming since 2013, and since then I've dedicated obscene amounts of time to some pretty cool companies and some very cool projects.
Isaiah worked as a full stack software engineer on Mantle for around a year although most of his time was spent on backend. From the get go his passion, attention to detail, ingenuity, problem solving & communication skills have been off the charts. He really took lead in the team and drove us to achieve bigger and better things while also having an outsized impact himself. Any team would be extremely lucky to be a part of this man's career.
One example that comes to mind is when Isaiah built the architecture to handle rewarding users based on gameplay, there were many competing challenges to make this system work. It had to be protected from cheating, so backend based, it had to be scalable to handle thousands users at a time without huge cost, it had to be realtime so the users would receive their rewards shortly after taking an action. That's just scratching the surface. Isaiah managed to balance all these challenges and build a functional and robust system, with very little oversight. The system he built is solid, and is functioning smoothly without issue to this day.
Isaiah contracted for Tearfund for two months. During this period he played a crucial role in refining our digital analytics and improving our website performance. He effectively utilized Google Analytics to track specific donations and collaborated with both the internal team and external contractors to significantly improve our page load times, particularly for our sponsorship pages. Additionally, he reviewed and benchmarked our website's codebase, identifying and addressing some specific performance issues. Overall, the team liked working with him and he's clearly a fast learner who will adapt quickly to the specific digital needs of an organisation.
Isaiah Meek started at Base FM as an intern back in 2020. He learned the ropes behind the scenes and also co-hosted some of our Breakfast show. In October 2021 he officially got promoted and employed as a software engineer and has worked in this role since in a part-time capacity.
For the previous two years, Isaiah's main job was to design and integrate a new and custom radio playout system, upgrading Base FM systems from 20 year old technology to up-to-date and more powerful software.
He developed online suite of tools to control and manage the station, including: - Live radio control panel - Show uploader + scheduler - Message center (connected to Facebook Messenger) - Internet radio statistics - Ads manager
The goal was for these tools to improve the efficiency and ease-of-use of day-to-day tasks and automating them where possible, improving the experience for users and freeing up their time, all while maintaining documentation regarding the new systems in the form of progress-logs (changelogs), video tutorials, and code comments.
Isaiah's job knowledge and quality of work have been a great asset to the station, he communicated effectively with managers, other staff and DJs. Importantly, he demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. He has continued to perform well and independently in his role and demonstrates the ability to juggle multiple tasks. Isaiah has a passion for music and technology and has been a great asset for our team.
